My son snuck in my room without waking me and used my iPhone to take some pictures. I am impressed with a) his stealth b) the fact that he has memorized my passcode and c) that he has figured out how to use all of my camera apps.
As you can see, I am totally paying attention to what is going on.
At some point, Jonah snuck in as well. He and Jeremiah got into a little tiff about which app to use and that’s when mama woke up and confiscated her phone. Seems tough but given that our digital camera met its untimely end at the bottom of the toilet at the hands of my dear boy… well, you can understand my concern.
Finally found the pictures of us making apple muffins together a few weekends ago.

Weekends like these make it really hard to get in the car and drive away on Monday mornings. I hang on to these moments all week long.
This is Brown Bunny. He loves apples. He doesn’t have a name really so he goes by Brown Bunny, Mr. Brown, Rabbit or Puppy.
I’m the one who calls him Puppy because I’m a fruitcake.
He is not litter trained like our other rabbit, as you can see. In fact, the more I sweep up his little presents the more he leaves, presumably because he figures that since I keep collecting his poo, I must like it very, very much so being the kindly hare he is, he keeps providing a steady supply for me in convenient places such as EVERYWHERE.
He also thinks it’s a riot to wrestle the rug. Apparently, he’s locked in some sort of epic feud that can only be settled by leaving the rug in state of serious disarray.
“Take that, filthy rug! You are no longer straight and tidy-looking! BWA-HA-HA.”
This is his other rug-foe. This one has a no-slip bottom and therefore presents more of challenge.
*It is important to note that when I speak for my rabbit, I give him the voice of Gogol Bordello. This whole thing may or may not make more sense with that fact in mind.
Holy cow, it’s the holidays already. I thought I was crazy for buying a bunch of Christmas presents all last month but now I’m feeling like maybe that was the sanest approach I’ve taken so far. Jeremiah’s birthday is next week and his presents are already purchased and on their way as well. We won’t decorate until after his special day although I feel the urge to get the boxes of Christmasy things out today. I have a four day weekend and I always feel pressured to get as much done as humanly possible before Monday. Ah well. Tomorrow we’re heading up to Milwaukee for…
So excited! I’m hoping to wrap up a few loose ends gift-wise at this fantastic event, after which we shall celebrate my friend Jess’ birthday. Happy times ahead!
Then there are Christmas parties for work and friends coming up and a few shows as well. It’s all happening so fast but I feel ready.
Today, however, I am sitting in my pajamas recovering from yesterday’s food coma. (Speaking of which: OMGTHEREARELEFTOVERSINTHEFRIDGEHALLELUJAH!) I took advantage of a few online Black Friday sales and spent a goodly amount of time on ModCloth.com. Ladies, they have some good sales today. I did not take advantage of any as I’m saving my pennies for tomorrow, but here. Just look.
Also, I can’t complain because I have the best Mad Men-esque Christmas party dress ever I picked up at a garage sale to wear this season but if you need a Christmas party dress, look at this sweet little number:

Also, I have been noticing a happy increase of bunny-themed items around. This little guy is my fave. It’s not weird to wear rabbit jewelry, right?
In other news, work is still going well – I think I’m doing an okay job. I feel fairly organized, fairly confident in the tasks I’m given. I think it will just keep getting better. It helps that the people I work with are easy going and good humored.
I feel like my posts are all fluff and nonsense lately but frankly, I just can’t deal with much more than that in this space right now. I’m keeping things simple for the moment in the interest of sanity and peace in my home. Hope you all can forgive me.
Anyway, heading to the fridge to raid for leftovers and hopefully I’ll be back tomorrow with some rad pictures from Art vs. Craft. Hope everyone’s Thanksgiving was loverly!
Marky found this dress for me – it’s a wedding dress from the 70′s and it was perfect. I managed to rescue it after the shoot even though it got really dirty.
Oh yeah, there was some water involved. I won’t say exactly what. You’ll have to wait to see the video in December…

This is Nick the director. He was fabulous – I think he generates about 50 ideas every minute. He was very patient with me – I’ve never acted before.
More shots. I’m pretty excited about the whole thing. I mean, how often do you get to be in a music video? It was a little strange, I have to admit. Like I said, I’ve never acted or modeled… I don’t even really like to have my picture taken. It’s just not my deal. But this was really fun. And I happened to look like what the director wanted (pale, blue eyes, long dark hair.) I think I did okay. It wasn’t too difficult. I mostly just acted the way I normally do. Put it this way: I would run around the woods in a red cape whether or not there was a camera on me.
At any rate, I was really honored to be part of this project. I can’t wait to see the finished product.
In other news, I’m exhausted lately. Work is busy, life is full… I’m just trying to catch up.
I was going to show you some fun fallish pictures from the boys making apple bread but I’ll be danged if I know what’s become of them. I have acquired a new-to-me MacBook and I thought I’d gotten all the pictures from my phone… alas. It seems I am mistaken.
Anyhow, we have, after seven years, decided to hook up tv in our home. The reason? It costs us $25 LESS to have internet plus tv than just internet. Wild, hm? So Marky and the boys are enjoying the football game and I am surfing comfortably from my kitchen table since I now have a computer that doesn’t need to be plugged in.
I’ve been sucked into spending an inordinate amount of time on ModCloth.com because, well, I had to go in order to witness this:
Do you see those amazing food plushies? Those are the work of my friend Steff Bomb, whom I love. (Both Steff and the plushies, that is.) As a family, we own both the corn and the carrot and I can attest to their absolutely excellent workmanship and cuteness. Anyway, after gasping with joy for a while at seeing her work on one of my most favorite websites ever, I started to peruse the other lovely offerings and found myself drawn to the color yellow. Over and over.
It is no secret that I love, love, LOVE yellow. Unfortunately, being as pale as I am, wearing bright yellow is not really an option for me, but I try to sneak a piece here or there in whenever I can. The jacket and sweater are absolutely amazing – the sweater looks like something Joan from Mad Men would wear. Lovely.
Also, I’ve been happily absorbing the wealth of girl knowledge cheerily presented by Natalya from Filthy Gorgeous Makeup. “Hello my lovelies!” Oh, I just eat it up. I want to have a fabulous accent and have perfect winged eyeliner. Anyway, I can tell this is going to be my new guilty pleasure. Here’s a sample:

I know, I’m turning into just an awful girl. I let my ear holes close up so that I wouldn’t freak everyone out at work and so I wear earrings now, which I’m still getting used to…. but secretly loving.
Also, I tried Natalya’s daily makeup look. Turns out, it’s almost exactly like what I wear to work every day anyhow.
We have some pretty busy weekends. Today, Marky was taking his sister to an open house at Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, so while they did that, we met up with Jess and Ryan and Stella at Betty Brinn Children’s Museum in Milwaukee.
First we stopped at the foundry Alterra.
The museum was pretty cool. It got pretty crazy packed and we left a little earlier than planned, but that’s okay. Up until that point, we had a grand time.

Unfortunately, all the other pictures I took were pretty awful. All in all though, it was pretty fun… afterwards we drove through all the prettiest parts of Milwaukee in all its fall glory and stopped at the mall to try and find Marky some jeans.
Why I ever think it is a good idea to go to the mall… I don’t know. I should know by know that it is NEVER A GOOD IDEA TO GO TO THE MALL. I was sucked into spending a ridiculous sum on something called “Silly Bandz,” Jeremiah ran away from me and was found in the fur department at Macy’s (his explanation? “I wanted to pet the coats!”) and there was a point where Micah ended up with edible marshmallow flavored glitter all over his face (note to self: do not ever, EVER bring small boys into Sephora’s no matter how much you want that one brand of mascara). Other than that we escaped largely unscathed.
Last weekend, we hit up the trail of history, which is something in McHenry county I used to do with my family when I was a kid. For a weekend, a part of glacier park is turned into a settlement… everything is authentic. It’s fabulous. We got to tour a pioneer home, learn candlemaking, spinning… everyone there was incredibly friendly and would take the time to explain what they were making, doing, etc. My mom and little sister came too. Everyone had a fabulous time.
